To BOM or not to BOM?

in Ask A Guru 1 comment

Hi Gurus,

I have a situation where we use a component only once no matter how many items are created in a batch. So if we complete a work order of 500 we only use qty 1, and if we complete a work order of 1, then we still use 1. This single use item is somewhat expensive so we want to make sure we are accounting for costs. We use standard costing.

Is there a proper way to add this to our BOM, should it be accounted for somehow in the routing instead? What is the best way to handle this situation?

Howdy, Stranger!
