New to NetSuite | Creating a Simple Custom List for Dropdown Values

Custom lists let users select from predefined dropdown values instead of typing free-form text. This helps keep data consistent and easier to report on.

What Is a Custom List?

A custom list is a set of values that can be used in a dropdown field.

Examples:

  • Low, Medium, High
  • Pending, Approved, Rejected
  • New Request, Change Request, Cancellation

Why Use It?

Custom lists can help:

  • reduce typing errors
  • standardize data entry
  • improve reporting
  • make forms easier to complete

Steps

Step 1: Create the Custom List

NetSuite: Navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Lists > New

NetSuite Next:

Click Explore (hamburger icon in the bottom left corner beside the home button).
