NetSuite Admin Tip | Review Old Workflows Before Writing Scripts
Before creating a new script, it is important to check whether an existing workflow already supports part of the requirement. Older workflows may still be active, updating fields, showing messages, or controlling record behavior behind the scenes.
Reviewing workflows first can help avoid duplicate logic, conflicts, and unnecessary scripting.
Scenario
A team requests a new script to automate a process.
Examples may include:
- setting a status
- assigning an owner
- sending an email
- validating a field
- routing a record for review
- updating a related value
The admin or developer plans to write a script, but the account may already have workflows that affect the same record type or fields.
