NSC | Why a Workflow cannot update a Locked Transaction
Scenario
A workflow is configured correctly and triggers successfully, but it cannot update certain transactions.
Common symptoms include:
- Workflow field updates do not apply after approval.
- State transitions occur, but field values remain unchanged.
- Workflow actions work on open transactions but fail on completed or locked records.
- No workflow errors appear, yet updates never save.
This is a common issue in NetSuite when transactions enter restricted statuses that limit editing behavior.
Solution
Review the transaction status and any restrictions preventing workflow updates.
