The NetSuite AI Connector Service lets supported external AI clients connect to NetSuite through the Model Context Protocol, also known as MCP. MCP helps improve integration capabilities and enables secure interactions between AI models and data systems.
With the NetSuite AI Connector Service, supported AI clients can interact with NetSuite data and functionality based on the user’s NetSuite access.
What can it help users do?
Depending on the tools installed and the permissions assigned to the user’s role, users may be able to:
- Query NetSuite data using natural language
- Work with NetSuite records
- Run reports
- Run saved searches
- Execute SuiteQL queries
- Use standard tools provided by NetSuite
- Build custom tools for business-specific use cases
What is MCP?
In simple terms:
- MCP allows an AI client to connect with external systems.
- In this case, the external system is NetSuite.
- NetSuite uses MCP so AI clients can interact with NetSuite tools and data in a structured way.
Does the AI client get full access to NetSuite?
No. Access is still controlled by the user’s NetSuite role and permissions. The MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp uses the same access controls as the NetSuite UI, so users can only see data and perform actions allowed by their assigned roles.
When should you consider using it?
You may consider using the NetSuite AI Connector Service if you want to:
- Ask questions about NetSuite data
- Retrieve information faster
- Interact with reports and saved searches through an external AI client
- Help users complete certain NetSuite tasks using natural language
- Build custom tools for specific business processes
