NetSuite Next: A new experience built on your existing NetSuite environment
NetSuite Next isn’t a new product. It’s the next generation of the platform that more than 44,000 businesses already know and use, bringing together embedded AI, agent-enhanced workflows, and a redesigned experience.
You won’t need to reimplement NetSuite or migrate your data to use NetSuite Next. Your underlying data, roles, permissions, workflows, and customizations remain in place. You can adopt the new system at your own pace. As NetSuite Next rolls out, you’ll choose how quickly you move to NetSuite Next.
Recently, we broke down the most-asked questions about the future of NetSuite.
How your peers are using Ask Oracle
Ask Oracle lets you interact with NetSuite in natural language. It sits at the center of NetSuite Next, and it’s also available in the current NetSuite experience. You can ask a question or make a request, then continue the conversation to refine, compare, visualize, or dig deeper.
Early adopters are already using Ask Oracle as an on-demand business analyst, operations advisor, and technical assistant. Here’s a sample of what they’ve asked:
- Profitability: “Analyze gross, operating, and net margin. What are the biggest profitability drivers, and which costs had the most impact?”
- Cash: “What’s driving our cash shortage—higher spending, customers not paying, increased expenses, taxes, or something else?”
- Close: “Before I close the month, are there any exceptions or anomalies still unresolved?”
- Operations: “One location has higher sales but weaker margins and more overhead. What initiatives should we explore to improve performance?”
These examples show how you can move beyond “What happened?” to questions such as “Why did it happen?” and “What should I do next?”
Ask Oracle, ChatGPT, and Claude: Here’s the difference
Ask Oracle is built directly into NetSuite and works across all the data, processes, and workflows that each employee has permission to access.
ChatGPT and Claude are external LLMs that can perform the same functions by connecting with NetSuite through the AI Connector Service, which is currently the fastest adopted capability in NetSuite history.
The experiences are different: Ask Oracle works inside NetSuite, while external LLMs connect through the NetSuite AI Connector Service. Ultimately, we’re meeting you where you and your users are, whether it’s in NetSuite or in your favorite LLM.
Your administrators control the rollout.
You choose how your organization transitions to NetSuite Next: Switch to NetSuite Next, try it in a dedicated preview account, or start by using Ask Oracle in your current NetSuite environment. As always, NetSuite roles and permissions determine what your users can see and do, while access to NetSuite Next and Ask Oracle can be managed separately by role.
For NetSuite Next, administrators can assign three access levels:
- NetSuite Next only: Users work in the NetSuite Next experience.
- Optional: Users can move between their current NetSuite and NetSuite Next. To move between experiences, go to the user menu and click Exit NetSuite Next.
- Blocked: Users remain in the current NetSuite experience.
Ask Oracle has its own role-based access controls, and existing roles don’t receive Ask Oracle access by default. To give or remove access for a role:
- Go to Setup > Company > AI > Ask Oracle Access.
- Enter all or part of the role name in the Search field.
- Click Has access or No access to give or remove the role’s access.
- Click Save.
NetSuite Next Preview provides a copy of your production account, so teams can test NetSuite Next before making the switch. Preview access lasts 30 days and can be renewed by request. You can also phase in Preview access by role, giving specific groups an opportunity to test the experience before expanding adoption.
Getting ready for NetSuite Next
Preparation for NetSuite Next covers four areas:
- Foundation: Enable Ask Oracle, practice prompting, and help teams build confidence working with AI.
- Data: Clean up duplicates, standardize naming, complete missing information, refine AI descriptions, and consolidate redundant automation.
- People: Understand how processes and users may be affected, communicate what’s changing, identify champions, and establish feedback loops.
- Adoption: Use Preview to test critical workflows, reports, forms, customizations, and SuiteApps. Create job aids, roll out by role, and continue supporting users as they get comfortable with the experience.
Improving data, permissions, customizations, and AI skills now can help your team get more from NetSuite Next when you decide to adopt it.

How to get better answers from Ask Oracle
Ask Oracle is conversational, so you can build on an initial answer. Follow up to compare results, drill into details, create a chart or table, or request a shorter summary.
More context can improve the response. Try these approaches:
- Start with the outcome. Be clear about what you’re trying to understand or accomplish rather than simply asking for general information.
- Give it context. Include details such as the time period, entity, metric, record type, or status you care about.
- Be precise. Terms like “open” or “delayed” can mean different things, so specificity matters.
- Keep the conversation going. Ask Oracle can turn an answer into a chart or table, compare periods, summarize findings, or dig deeper. Just ask.
- Know when to start fresh. If you’re changing topics or need the latest source data, start a new chat.
- Review before you share. AI-generated answers should always be reviewed for accuracy and relevance.
