Setup Item Lists

I have netsuite CRM + with plans of upgrading to NetSuite in the next couple of months.

My question revolves around item lists. Right not at the item list screen I can filter the list by many different options...like parents,... this is useful as I have over 500 items.

However, when I ceate a quote or opportunity the screen for adding items does not allow for filtering that list at all which makes this a real pain to find specific items in a list of over 500 items that are well organized at the items list screen.

Anyone have suggestions on how to make this easier...also is this process any different in full NetSuite?
