Script to Emulate Bill Remaining
If you go into the UI and hit the Bill Remaining button, even if you do not enable Bill Ahead of Fulfillment, items will show up on the Invoice (albeit at 0 quantities). You can then go ahead and overwrite the quantities to whatever you wish, even if there is no item fulfillment for those lines.
However, apparently, via script you cannot replicate this behavior. So, when I try to transform a Sales Order to an Invoice, and it has already been billed once (and this line appears on that bill for 0 quantity, because it has not yet been fulfilled) and now I want it to appear on a new transaction (new Invoice) so that I may edit the quantity - I cannot get past the error:
