New Country and State Lists - How to filter??

I see in 2010.2 that there are finally built-in lists for Country and State -- Excellent!

Now, what if I want to just list the states for the country United States? There does not seem to be any filter options for this. I even tried adding a list/record field for Country, hoping I could set some sort of filter value against this field, but nope...

Is there a way to filter States to only the countries I desire?  If not in the UI, at least via UIObjects in user event?

Otherwise, looks like another 80% there implementation....
