2010.2 Drop Shipped Sales Orders are still showing inventory as Back Ordered

2010.2 Drop Shipped Sales Orders are still showing inventory as Back Ordered causing multiple duplicate purchase of the same stock.

We have a sales order for an item.
The item is back ordered by the quantity of the sales order.
The sales order is then drop shipped.
The item still shows back ordered even though the item has been drop shipped.

Inventory management now orders for back ordered items which are not needed because the transaction was already drop shipped.
