Create Invoice - Packing Slip

Does anyone use the create Invoice rather than the Sales order process to relieve inventory and ship product? Or use both scenarios.

We are trying to use both - However! When you create an invoice (only) you do not have an option to generate a Packing Slip? Same as a cash sale.
When going through the Sales order process there is no problem.

I am curious if anyone else out there is using Invoicing only, and if so, how are you generating paper work for shipping your products.
