Promised vs. Actual Ship Dates

Is there any way when entering a Sales Order to put in a date that the items are promised to be shipped to the customer by (Ship Date on the Shipping tab sort of implies this).  And then is there some way to get reporting of promised dates versus ultimate actual ship dates?
