calculating shipping cost for drop shipped items

We have recently started an arrangement with a company to drop ship some items that we will carry on our website. When the customer places the order online the shipping cost is calculated based on our home zip code. The drop shipper bills us their actual shipping cost from their zip code. I thought turning on Multi Location Inventory might allow us to make the drop shipper's address be the preferred location for those items, and therefore calculate shipping costs based on shipping from that zip code.
