AARGH outsized items - no control

edited Nov 25, 2019 10:44AM in Accounting / ERP 2 comments

Last year I posted a message here about the problem of outsized items say 5' long items and customers select the lowest cost shipping method (Mail) which cannot accept items 5' long. I want Netsuite to provide a method such that as soon as an outsized item is added to a basket then some shipping methods would be excluded in just the same way as you can make some shipping methods go away when the basket hits a certain weight. So you can imagine my delight when I read this:

Enhanced Shipping Support

Select best shipping method per-item basis
The new Enhanced Shipping Support feature in NetSuite 2013.1 provides new flexibility and control over shipping methods and costs on a per-item basis, helping to minimize unnecessary shipping expenses. On the item record, supply chain managers can now set up default shipping methods, as well as restrictions on shipping methods. With this setup, a sales team can select only approved shipping methods on a per-item basis. Furthermore, the default shipping method is pre-populated during order entry based on the item being sold.

Howdy, Stranger!
