Archiving records

We have been using NetSuite for 2 years and have accumulated a lot of transaction data. Every time we look at a customer, every transaction associated with that customer since the beginning comes up. This is extremely slow and there are a few customers that take 5 minutes or more to open. Is there any way to archive old transactions so that we don't have to see every transaction ever created? We are only on our 3rd year; I can't imagine what it's going to be like in 5 or 10 years if we can't do this.
