Break Link between Special Order PO and Sales Order?

Anyone aware of any type of brute force method to destroy the link between a sales order and special order purchase order?  Need same for work order.  If we create the PO or WO directly from that sales order and then things change, there are some workarounds but in some cases the only option is to delete and re-create the PO.  Which is a real pain after receiving has occurred.
