SSP Custom Checkout Fields

Thanks to Lorne I have a custom delivery instructions field on my checkout.
(Which I still have some questions about if anyone cares to take a look? https://usergroup.netsuite.com/users/showthread.php?t=30857)

My next question is... this field in the old checkout would source values from the customer record as some customers like to have permanent instructions. Now they don't populate.

Any clues on how to go down that avenue?
