Reference checkout - Removing the Company Field

We're trying to implement the reference checkout bundle and finding that the documentation a bit sparse.

The company field appears in our customer registration process (on the address page) and we'd like to remove it. We have a custom field label for Company Name and the reference checkout is using that custom label, so it's finding the information somewhere in the system, I just can't figure out where.

The DISPLAY COMPANY FIELD ON REGISTRATION PAGE option in Web Site setup is unchecked, but doesn't seem to affect the reference checkout.
