Inline HTML to show on Transaction Form

I have created an Inline HTML field as a transaction column field. I would like it to appear on the item line level, however I cannot get it to show up. When I edit the record, it shows it as being edit-able. Ultimately I want to use my own javascript in a hyperlink for a popup window, but the field just won't display! Is there anything special to know when working with inline HTML fields? Am I using the inline html field for the wrong thing? I just want to make a popup from the transaction line level! If anyone
