Customer Centers, Roles, Saved Searches and SuiteLets

I'm trying to setup a custom center for a set of roles and I'm not getting very far.
It looks like the problem is that you can't change the center for a customized role, only for a new role.  OK, so I created a new role and started to sync ALL the permissions...
Then I went to a SuiteLet I have and clicked on the Links tab to choose my new custom center; It's not there.  Custom centers aren't supported on SuiteLets or custom records.

I also just noticed that even though I've created a custom tab on the "Classic Center" I can't choose that tab from my custom records, saved searches or SuiteLets.  The different custom tools REALLY don't play well together, do they??
