Custom inventory item forms

Howdy

I just imported some new items based on a new item form. Worked like a charm... however, it is not our preferred form. When I go to edit one of these items it defaults back to our preferred form. I have to click the drop-box each time and select the correct form.

Not ideal. Am I doing something wrong or is this by design?
