custom field question

I created a new transaction column field which I applied to sale item and now it appears on my purchase orders. However I now need to display this information on the inventory item under a subtab I created just for this information.

I thought maybe I could do this with sourcing so I created a text box on the inventory subtab but I wasn't able to select the custom field I made above as the source.

Any help is appreciated
