Line Numbering on Quotations

I would appreciate some help in trying to determine if we can automate having line numbers on our quotations.

As we enter items on a quotation we would like the first field to be a number that can be referenced...  for example line 1, line 2, line 3, etc...

Has anyone else done this successfully or have I missed the fact that this is a standard option within Netsuite.

Any help would be appreciated.
