Case Sublists

I am trying to create a sublist in my cases that show all open cases from the same customer or end user.

I am using a default case saved search so as to remove variables.  This search shows all my open cases.

If I then referance that saved search as the CRM sublist with the Case box checked and no filters it shows no matching records in the sublist in the case.

Am I missing something?

I am by no means a novice netsuite user but have only ever created sublists based on a parent child relationship.  This seems to be something quite different.
