Acceptable Variance

We're having a discussion in our office about Physical Inventory and what should be an acceptable final variance.  We are in the Retail Appliance Business and our normal inventory level is around $1M and our Avg Cost/Item is around $800. 

If you don't mind, I was wondering if anyone could volunteer what they would consider a reasonable and acceptable variance.  Private messages are welcome and will be kept confidential.
