Demand Planning options from NetSuite

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:21PM in Ask A Guru 4 comments

My employer is moving to NetSuite as our ERP. NetSuite seems like a wonderful ERP and we are excited to be moving there. So far nothing has gone "live"; therefore, I have no NetSuite experience. My interest is in demand planning and what products NetSuite users use for forecasting. I know there are many third-party solutions but I am asking here about NetSuite solutions. I have read of Demand Planning https://www.netsuite.com/portal/assets/pdf/ds-ns-demand-planning.pdf and Demantra and have two questions. So I am asking a guru.

  1. Are these two modules the NetSuite-supplied forecasting modules?
  2. The Demand Planning module has four options. My question is about the first three options. OLS, Moving Average, and Seasonal Average. Perhaps I do not understand the Demand Planning module - after all, I have not yet used it. I have only read the data sheet and watched videos about it. However, from what I have read and watched, the first three options of demand planning seem deficient for our demand planning needs. OLS on time series data breaks rules by regressing with correlated data. Moving Average and Seasonal Average would be good for us if combined as Moving Average
