Order entry & inventory commitment vs allocation

edited Jun 15, 2020 4:06PM in Accounting / ERP 2 comments

We've been on NetSuite for close to 3 years now. Given the C-19 period that we're going through, this is the first time that we are facing inventory stock-out challenges. Unfortunately, we don't seem to be able to manage this situation properly in the system.

Here's our challenge. Let's say that we have 3 orders in the system for part A (100 cs in stock):

  • Order 1: 10 cs
  • Order 2: 20 cs
  • Order 3: 50 cs

What I'm asking my team is to protect some specific customers, and sprinkle inventory around:

  • Order 1: 0 cs
  • Order 2: 5 cs
  • Order 3: 10 cs

And I want to keep 85 cs in stock for future customers orders that I would like to sprinkle to. I still want to capture the true customer demand, and not remove the sales order lines from NS and run stock-out opportunity report based on the difference of shipped vs ordered. When we use the reallocate module in NetSuite we cannot leave any orders are zero (0), and keep a portion of the inventory for future orders that will come in at a later time.
