How do you set up an item on NetSuite where you send some of the components to a supplier, then rece

We have some items on our system where we send labels to a supplier, for them to label the product they have manufactured, and then purchase the complete item (with label attached) back.  At the moment we are free issuing the labels to an 'external location' and then writing stocks off, but we would like to be able to track these through the system properly.

We have looked at SuiteAnswers for offsite manufacturing, but it is quite technical and involves quite a few steps.  I was wondering if there was a slightly simpler process, much along the same lines of how work orders tie to sales orders (can you attach WOs to POs?)
