W-9 State, Local and Federal Government

Hi All,

Thank you for having me. Ok, I have been doing AP for a while, but each time I go to a new company, they have differences in what is needed for W-9. I should know this, and I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but my manager is stating otherwise... Do we obtain a W-9 from Government entities? I know they are tax exempt; however, so are non-profits and we get W-9's for them. Because my manager says I have to call to obtain one for Government, so that she will approve their setup in
