Print Item Barcode Label - Need Item Fields

Has anyone been able to include native item fields on the print label item template? I know to customize I must use an advanced pdf template. However, I have not found a way to include the Item Number (sku) or the Vendor Code along with the bar code. They also want to use this function with a zebra printer, if there are any issues to know concerning that connection please let me know!
