Service company using SRP - invoice templates needed with project/task/timesheet details

We are using NS SRP (not Openair), and need a way to display project/time sheet details of billable time charges on our PDF invoices to clients, such as tasks, dates,resources, hours, rate, notes, with different choices of subtotals. At the moment, the advanced invoice templates are only customizable to show the service items, but no project or time sheet details for charges.

A workaround suggested by NS support is to attach a saved search report with each invoice, but that will be a royal pain I imagine.

Has anybody found a more workable solution for this? There is an enhancement request #139770 for this, but I am afraid this might take years.
