Advanced PDF/HTML - Conditional

I am attempting to add a conditional statement on an invoice of mine, and hoping I can get some advice.

I am attempting to display text if the item.baseunit is "hour" else I don't want to display text

  </td>
</#if>
<#elseif record.baseunit<>'hour'>
  <td align="center" colspan="3">&nbsp;
  </td>

Any assistance would be great.
