REST API - Getting back too many records - more than needed

Hi,

When the client tells me there are just a small amount of records per day (less than 50), well, my rest api search is bringing back many hundreds instead.

Example:

SELECT * FROM transactionline tl, transaction t, subsidiary s WHERE t.trandate = '2/1/2021' and tl.transaction = t.id and s.name LIKE '%MYCOMPANY%'

Not sure how to improve my query to better target proper records?

Can anyone help with my search criteria to better target just the proper client records that matter?
