Is there a way to update work orders automatically based on sales order revisions made?

We find the process of sales order item revisions to be daunting so i'm wondering if there is an easier way thru scripting or a third party software that would help. The situation we find very inefficient is we create and approve a sales order for serialized assembly items. Once the sales order is approved the work order is made. The customer decides to make a revision to one of the items after they have approved the sales order and the work order was created. We make the revision on the item on the sales order but then we have
