Sub items in the BOM is not coming MRP in planning workbench page.

Hi,

I am implementing MRP for my client. I have created Planning category, Planning Item Group then supply plan definition for an assembly item. In the planning workbench page i am able to see only the assembly item but i am unable to see the results for BOM under that assembly item. Do i need to update the "Planning item category" for the BOM items. I would expect the BOM items to be grouped under the Assembly item. Please help me to understand MRP in details. Any pointers to understand MRP in depth would be great.
