Revenue Schedule From Journal

I have a journal that I have added the revenue schedule, start and end date on the line but it doesn't look to generate any arrangement or plan or an actual schedule running on it. What is the issue here? Is there the ability to drive Revenue from a journal entry or do I have to use a SO or Invoice?
