Why are html links in my item page not working?

We are using SCS for our website. I added some links in an item description field to provide links to some related items. Nothing shows up on the item page on the website, but if i hit "preview html" on the item page in NS it displays properly and the links work.

When I go to the item page on the website and right click>inspect i see the links and clicking them sends me to the correct destinations

I am willing to provide any screenshots or code blocks, but i didnt want to overwhelm the question.

Any help would, by me, be appreciated.
