Sourcing the BOM quantity from BOM revision record to work order

I have a client who wants to source the BOM total quantity in Kilograms (only components that are in kilograms, and no others) from the BOM Revision record and pull that information over to a work order field, where they will use it in a calculation on another custom formula field, to get the estimated quantity they will need for the work order. I have tried creating a saved search for this but I cannot get access to it on the custom field. I also tried sourcing it and using default in a formula, all without any
