How to clear on hand inventory with no item status

We have several skus showing on hand inventory but nothing available even though there are no commitments, back orders, or demand of any kind

The items do not have an inventory status

2 questions:

how do we end up with items with no inventory status?

how do we fix this so the items don't show any on hand inventory?

we don't use bins, only item status
