Can a Custom Form be Formatted for a Small Screen?

I have a simple custom form that I would like for users to be able to complete using a handheld device with a phone-like screen. The fields on the screen are setting themselves into 2 columns (which might be OK on a computer screen) which is hard to work with on the small screen. If I could convince NetSuite to show the fields in a single column, then that would be much easier for the users.
