how to trigger server script to identify that a record is updated via a workflow?

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:29PM in Ask A Guru 4 comments

We have a script to be triggered once a custom record is created or updated. The script can be successfully triggered once the custom record is created or updated via UI.

However if the custom record is updated via workflow. The refresh script can't be triggered.

We have a scheduled workflow to update the custom record every night. the updates via workflow can't trigger the refresh script to do the sync. Can you please advise how to trigger server script to identify that a record is updated via a workflow?

function refreshCache(context) {
    var refresh =
      context.type === context.UserEventType.CREATE ||
      context.type === context.UserEventType.EDIT ||
      context.type === context.UserEventType.XEDIT;
    if (!refresh) return;

Howdy, Stranger!
