Saved Search for NSPB

Is it possible for the saved search being run for Data Management in NSPB, to be Pipe delimited rather than comma? we have said there are commas etc, but the process is very flakey, where it works one time and then won't. I tested with the same saved search result as a txt file that is pipe delimited and it is fine, but obviously this is not very practical!
