Warranty RMA Inventory detail error

While creating RMA from Warranty Claim record, it asks us to enter the Inventory Detail. In RMA record when I enter the Serial/Lot number that is used in the Warranty Claim record an error pops up displaying "The following serial numbers are already in inventory for item". Please advice.
