How can I create Custom Field assigned to BOM Revision Component?

I would like a text field to be associated with a BOM Revision Component that can be printed on the work order as it is created. We don't use routings at this time. I see I can create an "other record field" with record type bill of materials revision. how do I get to the component listing in this revision to add the field to that sublist?
