How to Customize sublist for Bill of Materials Inquiry?

I want to have two fields added on the sublist for all users that use the bill of materials inquiry. How can I set a default custom view to the sublist of the bill of materials inquiry so that it shows item type and display name as well as what is currently shown as the default?
