How Subsidiary restriction works on custom role?

Hi, I have created a custom role with access to only 'User Subsidiary', but I am still able to see all the custom records from suiteApp belonging to all other subsidiaries. But for records coming from other suiteApps, only those belonging to user subsidiary are shown. I have not enabled cross subsidiary viewing for the role. Is there anything I have missed? Thanks.
