How to create a csv file when a custom button is triggered?

I have a need (now and again) to export the sales order items to a CSV file. I thought I resolved it with the N/file module and then released its only server side!

I created a button on the items sublist "Export Items to CSV" to do this.

I did play around with using a suitelet, but i've never done this before and dont know how this works. Failing this, the only other way is to do it aftersubmit, but I didnt want this happening every time.

Any help would be appreciated.
