Can we add a new GAAP category / Account Type?

Good day--

Are we able to add a new GAAP category to the list of available categories when adding entries to our Chart of Accounts? Our accountant would like to define some of the accounts to be of type "Marketable Securities", but that {accttype} does not appear in the list.
