Are there other effects of inactivating and reactivating Items?

We have a few SKUs we'd like to inactivate. If we do that:

1) will they still show up on historical reports. For example, we want to see Jan-Feb sales even though the SKU is inactivate as of now.

2) can we reactivate if we change our mind with no negative effects?

3) is there any effect other than to remove the SKUs from normal dropdown lists? Anything I should watch out for?
