SuiteScript 2.0 - Why does Alert message won't go away.

I'm working through the SuiteScript course with some difficulty as the answers are all out of date.

I've made a validateField function to check if the coupon code entered has a length of 5. The function works and the alert message displays.

But I can't correct the coupon code when the alert message displays, and clicking OK on the alert message doesn't make it go away, it just keeps repeating the alert.

How would I work around this?
